Karlie--Last night, I had one of the oddest dreams. I had a dream that this boy at school, who is so repulsive Sarah and I call him gaggle which makes us think of gagging, and my entire dream consisted of us sitting down and talking. So, then he says, "Karlie, even though we are only in high school I think we should get married." So my reply was, "sure why not I have been waiting for this moment all my life." Then I threw-up on him and woke up.

Crandall-- last night I dreamed that the Jonas Brothers came to live with us.

Squid--I was on a sidewalk and dressed in peasant's clothes, and I fell and scraped my knee. Then someone helped me up but at the same time didn't...like an invisible hand helped me up.

Crandall-- It was Christmas morning and we were at a restaurant (who would do that?) then my mom gave the whole family an i-pod. Later in the dream I saw like a half Spider-man half Batman sort of creature.

Crandall-- I dreamed that I was in the jungle and there was some kind of cathedral in there. There was a huge ape that sat in front of it. While I was spying at it, it started to chase me.

Crandall-- I dreamed that I went to some place way in the woods. It had a small lake. Me and a few other people went fishing. There were actually swordfish and sea serpents in there! Then I dreamed that I easily caught a sea serpent 10 times the size of the lake. I think i was in Guinness World Records.

Squid--I was standing in darkness but it was faintly lit around me, and in front of me there was a big gray stone wall. I was talking to it about my novel, then leaned forward and kissed it.

Noey -- I dreamed a while back that Britt's little sister (Taylor) got made at me for spelling CHEX wrong like on CHEX MIX. I spelled it right, but then I asked her how she thought it was supposed to be spelled. She said it was spelled like, "SYILAENFG" or something of the sort. I said, "No, it is 'C-H-E-X'. CHEX!" We got into a giant fight and she said she was gonna avoid me until I spelled CHEX right. Weird.......

Noey --I dreamt that I kissed Will Turner . . . . . . on the Black Pearl!

Squid--I dreamed that I was reading this page, then Crandall came over and we were standing on my driveway. She told me about the sea serpent dream, the batman/spider-man dream, and the ape dream, but that was faint.

Noey -- Squid and Lizzie were standing in the hay barn, with angry expressions on their faces. "You have to do it for me!!!" Squid kept yelling, but Lizzie kept shaking her head and saying, "I can't do it!" "Yes you can!" "Whatever!" "You have to do it for ME!!!" "No, I don't!" Lizzie threw a piece of hay at Squid and then I woke up.

Crandall-- I was on a really weird ship, not the black pearl or anything, I think I was in some weird pirates of the Caribbean play with no audience. we weren't even in the place where you do the plays. My parents were in it too. After that, the whole play thing came to life. I saw Jack, and i think he almost kissed me. (calm down Syd, it was just a dream)
Okay, Crandalian, I calmed down. lol

Squid--Mom and Dad and me were in Bowdy's room. A bird flew in the window and we all ran from it into the hall, which became a very, very long hall. When we got to the end, Jaycie was sitting on the floor and leaning against the door frame of the bathroom. Her eyes were REALLY HUGE and REALLY WIDE and glazed over and red. She was sleeping with her eyes open. She woke up, and said something [I couldn't hear it] but her voice was like an adult woman's. CREEPY. And once again, everything was dark except for when we were in Bowdy's room.

Lizzie: I was at a potluck dinner at some church and the chips were trying to eat me. Along With the RANCH DIP!

Lizzie: (to know part of where my dream came from I'll add a comment) I had just came back to school from doing a project in the fat suit at another school. and when i came back my bf was with another girl, and i was really upset and didn't know why he would do that to me. I sat with him and his sister (apparently somehow we were engaged because i called her my sister-in-law) and the cool people that i used to hang out with sat at the top since i was down there. then i went to art class and drew this amazing pic. of us together i showed him, and he left the room and i followed. then we were in a voice show production and him and his new girlfriend were a "couple" in the production and when they held hands and it was my turn to sing i couldn't/ then my mother had to wake me up to go to school when he ran over and hugged me and I don't know what he was about to say but... oh well.

Crandall-- I dreamed that I was in the front seat of a car with some man driving. While on the road he turned around to talk to someone in the back. I think we almost had a wreck but i remember saying, "The gas pedal!" and then put my foot on it. Which was kinda weird, cause that meant we would keep going.... I should have said THE BRAKE! it was just a dream.

Lizzie: Last night people were shooting at me in m dream. i actually dodged the bullets

Crandall-- I was in a store and I saw a green clay plaque that, written in fancy letters said, Squid. I was going to get it for Sydnie.

Crandall-- I had two tiny cuts on my face. (I have no idea how I got them) So I was on the sidewalk outside our house walking around. Then the cuts started bleeding like crazy and got all over in my eyes and mouth.

Crandall-- I dreamed that It was 2:00 on Jan 5th (squid's birthday party) and I forgot all about it. I was so sad that I missed it.
[That's kinda creepy Crandalian! XD I hope you don't miss my birthday!] lol

Squiddy--Mum told me, 'we need to go to that site and get you an agent.' [for writing]

Crandall-- Alright, the whole dream was really real but I've forgotten like all of it and the whole thing was really stupid. OK, here's some of it: I was at the weirdest carnival, or some big old house, i don't know, and I think kids were throwing pies at me in there....But it was fun though. We chased each other around screaming and laughing, up and down the narrow stairs, and then at one point in the dream, I told this nice man about what had happened. He said that I would be surprised when he said this, but that it was good to use your imagination and that I was just imagining it all. (Which was true because DUH it was a dream)

Toad--I was sitting in a completely purple room staring at a plant that was really pretty but it had one dead leaf on it. The leaf fell and right before it hit the floor I woke up.

Crandall-- This is really funny! Well, my aunt took me in the bathroom all mad and started destroying everything. She had some earrings for sale in there, and started yelling, "They're 25 cents each! Buy them!" I don't know, just something like that.

Squid--My mother and me were at a restaurant I think at first, then we were sitting in a park, then we were both places but not at the same time. Anyway, something came up to me and gave me a ring that was like pure crystal, just a loop of crystal, and I put it on and mum and me started talking. Suddenly we were zapped home and I was talking to her and someone else [don't know who] and I said 'so then I got this ring--' and I looked down to see the ring was gone. I looked under my feet and all around but it was gone for good, so I stood back up and shrugged and said 'ah, well, it was just a ring. Probably cheap anyway.'

Crandall-- Alright, this is just plain stupid. I was flushing all my brother's clothes down the toilet, and saw that his basketball shorts were getting sucked up, so I quickly pulled them out since our game was the next day.

Lizzie- - I was walking down the living room and i was getting married to the guy I like. and I just kept looking into his eyes and after a min. or so he pulled me into my daddy's TV room and we were looking at the guests. I put my hand over my heart and felt my heart beating really fast. I said "My heart is beating really fast." and he said "Is it because you know you're actually married now?" it is a little fuzzy in places I can't remember if I kissed him or not... any way then I left him in daddy's room to go to talk to Mama and my evil witch aunts were in there too. So I went back and led him to my Nana's bedroom and when I opened the door Sabrina the teenage witch was a pillow on it and was talking to us and so we were starting to walk down the hall and I woke up.

Crandall-- I was lying down watching something in the sky while I was leaning on some guy's shoulder.

Crandall-- There were these bugs on my stomach, spiders, leeches, ticks, all kinds of stuff and there kept on getting more and more.

Crandall-- You know that Snape guy in Harry Potter? I dreamed I went to his house that was in the woods sort of near Eufaula. I saw him come out in his black robes and I said, "Hey, what's up Snape?" Then he got in his truck and drove away.

Squid--someone made me get in the back of a truck filled with water up to my waist with small sharks. According to a voice, they were 'vegetarian.'

Crandall-- For some reason I keep dreaming about Disney people... weird. Miley Cyrus came to my house. There was more to it, but I can't remember.

Crandall-- Noey gave me a compliment on here that said something like: ...'because she always replies back to the email really fast and
Sydnie doesn't.'

haha. what a dream.

Crandall- My Grandfather died. I was crying so hard! It was a little too dramatic.

Noey - Jasper (ask me if you want to know more. He's from 'Twilight' by Stephenie Meyer. If you haven't read it, get it from the library NOW) made me into a vampire. I LOVE JASPER!!! crandall----- so you dreamed about Jasper?

Paige- I had a dream that I was Bella and instead of Bella falling in love with Edward she fell in love with Jasper.

Crandall-- I set up a table on our street corner like a lemonade stand. Instead of selling food or drinks, I taught Latin classes I think. Just some kind of school subject. But I taught it to adults and only two women at a time and two men at a time. They would sit in these little chairs in front of the table. It was really weird.

Crandall-- This is SO sad. I dreamed that Casey died! It was something like that, and I can hardly remember it.

Crandall-- This dream was very faint. I kissed someone, but I forgot who

Crandall-- My mom wouldn't let us go to the movie that we were going to see today, Kit. It was so real.

Squid - Something about my cousin Andrew, but I can't remember??

Squid - Noey and I were in Draeil and all of a sudden she turned into a Fire Nymph, then an Earth Faery.

Squid - I was at the Community Center with the home school group and a bunch of my friends, and Kristin was jumping into the pool almost right on top of me (I was hanging onto the wall). I pushed off the wall really fast, and the instant she hit the surface and I went underwater, I turned into a Mermyd.

Mir-- Just a warning before I tell you...I always have HORRIFYING dreams. So before you read this dream, note that it may be scary to the elderly, young children, and people who hate Halloween.
My parents kicked me out of the house, and I was on the run. Many were chasing me, but most important was Victoria (Twilight fans know!) I was just running down the streets, ringing the doorbell of everyone I know, but every single house had a "For Sale" sign on it.
Finally, after I rang the doorbell on my best friend's house and was walking down the driveway with a frown painted on my face, Victoria sneaked around the bushes, and was running after me with lightning speed. She was just about to kill me, when I woke up.

Toad--I fell asleep on my couch and slept for two years and sixty-three days.

Toad --I watched the Flintstones while I was at my grandmother's house and then ate cake. ...?

Toad-Bob the Pineapple (the one Squid took a pic of) was in my kitchen!! And my dad threatened to chop it up if I didn't clean my room!!

Lizzie- (lol i can never remember my dreams when ever i get on this site!) here is part of one that i had last night-- i was walking into a room with 3 of my friends and my play director and her husband just got out of a mud pit. i wanted to play in it (don't ask me why) but i didn't have on the right clothes to swim in the mud.. so i kept on looking for clothes.... i never did get to swim in the mud though...

Lizzie- I had a dream that i didn't know anything about my voice show, so when i got there, they put me on stage and i was dancing with the mic, and i looked so bad! : o

Toad--Arod, squid's gargoyle, was singing to me, and all of a sudden he turned back to stone and i was sitting on a dock.

Joze--I had a dream that I had escaped from this giant house or orphaned run by a phsyco old lady and she had sent two guys to chase after me and this other girl that escaped and we were running through this giant deserted city.

Mariella--A while back, I dreamed that we had three dogs. They all looked like my current dog, Francie. But after we bought them we found out that they were vampires so we had to give them away. Later, I dreamed that I had two dogs that also looked like Francie. They also turned out to be vampires, but this time, rather than give them away, we fled the house. Now the next dream, there is bound to be only one dog. And I hate to think of what kind of havoc that dog will wreak.

Squid - I keep dreaming about New Orleans. I tend to have LOTS of flashback dreams.

Karlie- a few nights ago I dreamed that I was with a group of people I didn't know, we were just talking when someone asked me if I was ready, so I told them I was and then that person said welcome to the night life and started to come towards me. Then I was suddenly in a forest and someone said, "Okay Karlie, lead the way." So, I started going somewhere, and someone shouted, "THE SUN IS COMING UP!!!" So everyone in my group starts freaking out, and we all start booking it to a creepy looking mansion. Once we got there I got in my coffin and shut the lid. Then someone opened the lid and said scoot over this coffin is for both of us. In this dream I was kind of watching it and in it. So, the person watching it was thinking, that person looks really familiar. Then ?I figured out it was Sarah, sarimag24.

Karlie-I dreamed that I was in San Antonio again.

Karlie-I dreamed that I went to Alabama.

Candy	My brother is getting some help for multiple emotional problems, just pray that he is accepting of the people trying to help him.
Karlie	Some of my friends really need God's guidence right now.
Josh	There was a story on the news about a gunman that walked into a facility that helps immigrants and started to shoot people taking a test to become legal citizens. We need to pray for the families of those people.
Katie Brown [squid's friend]	If you could would you be willing to pray for Mr. Whitman's wife(my old band director)back in February she was diagnosed with a brain tumor. She went through two surgeries because of it. She has been progressing very well. So if you would keep her in your prayers. Her name is Meredith Whitman. Thanks.
Lizzie	Hey its me again, i am having a different kind of friend problem. i have had this group called the 4 amigos and one just moved away. now one of the amigos is pulling away from the whole group... now there will only be two by the end of the year if this keeps going the way it is.. i love all of them but i can't deal with all this drama
Dan (The Nuthead)	Basically, Pain - Doctor - Tests - Pain - Hospital - Pain. In that order over the next few days.
Liz	There is this man, named J.C. and he goes to my church. well about a year, year and a half ago, they found a spot on his brain. it was cancer. well they had surgery and chemo and he got better. well he went back for a check up a couple of months ago and they found another spot. he is having a hard time because he has 2 small boys. the youngest on is about five and the other one is six or seven. he is such a Godly man and we all love him very much, so please pray for him.
Pippy for Ms. Kathy and Marker	Ms. Kathy is going on a mission trip in Asia for 2 years...everyone at Bowmar is going to miss her very much, so pray that she makes a different out there and that we don't get too depressed of missing her B( In a few years, my good friend Marker will be going to India B( me will misses her a whole bunches, but i no stop her B( Pray she do well
Pippy	Y'all pray fer Okie (my sister) please...she is making some bad decisions (to say the least) right now and it has affected a lot of stuff around her...she has Josie, me, and others with her, but sometimes she will push us away. Pray fer her please...
Squid	My shoulders hurt, my knee hurts I'm going insane and hate my novel even now during editing. Pip's sister.
Josiah	Pray for my Uncle Tim who lives in Michigan. He's an electrician and doesn't really have a job. Pray for my dad. His company was losing money and he just got laid off.
Noey	My uncle Paul Horton who works for the bomb squad/air force just left a few weeks ago (before Christmas) for Afghanistan, so pray he stays safe as well as his companion peoples. If anyone wants to say anything to him (he loves messages from people), then tell me so I can send it to him. :)
Trista to Calee Anthony	I want you to all pray that Calee Anthony gets peace in heaven. Please pray that her mother learns from her mistake of murdering a child and that she can become a better person. And pray for Calee's family. They need the prayers because of what has happened a while back. R.I.P. Calee Anthony!!!
Pip	Faerytale theatre is back again! Pray that goes well.
Syd	The place I work.
Mir	For my 13 year old dog, Chester- who has a tumor. Thankfully it hasn't spread yet, but to begin with, it grew at a very rapid pace. The vets were able to take part of it out and drain the infection, but we don't know if it's cancerous or not yet.

No....I promise I haven't abandoned the story.....I just took a little break. But it is back in full swing now....Yay!

9/25/08 - I began my novel in reality, I have written out the intro....and part one (to be continued fashion) I will post my intro below:

I had been waiting none too patiently for the day. I was phyched! My first jumping competition! It was only jumping 3' but it was still exciting.
Everything seemed to start out well. We were nearing the end of the course when my horse, Midnight Ashes, began acting uneasy. She spooked right before the highest, hardest jump on the course. I couldn't stop her, and it was all over in a second. As soon as her front feet landed on the other side of the jump, she stumbled and went down, taking me and the jump set with her.
I heard shouts mingled with screams and saw people running towards me, my two best friends in the lead. I hurt all over, I felt the sensation of something wet slipping down my face. Blood? I tried to move, to cry, anthing to reassure myself that I was okay. But my mind went dead and everything dissapeared into a blanket of darkness, with an echo of wailing sirens whispering to my scared heart.

10/9/08 - been working on my book like crazy! since it is written about people in real life that I know personally (me included) it has been easier.

10/19/08 - began editing some of the brginning while fighting writers block for the next part.

10/25/08 - apx 2,000 words typed......have WAY more written. been editing and planning, plotting and executing plots. you know, the writing stuff. ;-D

Update 6/3/09: I finally started editing Tears for the Silent Lands!!! Well, it's not quite the actual chopping yet, but I'm going through the whole thing and making notes in a separate notebook about the plot and what needs to change. Sounds easy, right? It isn't. I've been doing it two days, and I've only gone through four pages. This whole editing thing is going to take a LOT longer than expected - but hey, once it's done, but novel will be all nice and shiny! *hugs Tears, even though it's being such a pickle*

I am notorious for having more than one project going at a time. So, here you can get a general idea of what I'm working on, how long it is, blah blah blah. Right now, I am mostly working on a new novel called....

Enchantress

This is the story of Everlyse, a teenage girl who has been given power by God in our modern time, in order to fight against the growing power of the Dark Magicians. Following the death of her trainer and her fellow good magicians, Everlyse teams up with Andrew, a wandering magician who's not sure which side he's on, for mutual self-preservation - and she discovers what it is she's really fighting for.

Ah, bad summary. Anyways, this story is 44,143 words long at the moment, and many who have read it have claimed that it is my best work so far. I don't know - we'll see. Anyways, I'm taking a break from it at the moment so I can get a clearer spiritual direction on this, and so that I will be able to see clearly as I try to remove some evil things that had begun to creep into it without my knowing.

Also, I am soon to start editing my NaNo 08 novel....

Tears for the Silent Lands:

So, even though I wasn't a member of SARI during NaNo, I haven't quite finished my NaNo yet, so I'm going to post progress updates here! (And a huge celebration once it's completed!)

The title of my NaNoWriMo 2008 novel is Tears for the Silent Lands.

As a short summary, it's about an elf maiden - Mirriae, by name - who, after a long absence from the elvish city, returns to find that all the other elves have vanished without a trace.

At the end of NaNo, Tears was about 68,000 words long.

While I was planning for NaNoWriMo, I used a fun type of outline called a phase outline. Basically, for every scene in the novel, you write a few phrases that come to mind. They could be lines of dialogue, description of scenery, or any other fragment of thought that will jog your memory when it comes time to write the scene. My phase outline turned out to be about 10,000 words long all by itself, with 127 individual points!

Update 2/15/09 - I realized that there was something during the climax that I should have done but neglected to do, and that's the thing that's been drawing out the ending and making it a pain to write. I had to get rid of the last 15,000 words that I wrote, but it's better than having to keep struggling with an ending that doesn't fit. Hopefully the writing should go quicker now that I've had time to think about what I want this ending to look like, and know what I'm supposed to be aiming for. Please pray for me, because this is sort of a big blow and is very depressing.

Charrie(s)/Char(s) - character(s)

PC - Page Count (how many pages you've got so far)

WC - Word Count (how many words you've written so far)

HW - Handwrite, meaning on paper with a pen or pencil and not typing.

Plotline/Storyline - The plot of the book, of course, what it is about.

Plotting - Planning out the book.

Brainstorm(ing) - Going into an unresponsive state of mind where ideas freely flow around in your head. This is known to give the most inspiration to writers and is a good practise for those who tend to suffer from lack of plot twisters and inspiration in general.

Writer's Block - A horrible disease with no symptoms that comes unexpectedly, infecting the creative part of the brain in writers, stealing every drop of inspiration and idea that was there as a result of brainstorming. Some are prone to it, some are not, but it can last anywhere from five minutes to months and maybe even years. Also: Artist's Block, Poet's Block.

Rejoicing - something a writer does when he/she is finished with a strangely long scene, developing a plot or charrie, or the entire novel itself. Also: Spazzing, Stupid Choices Made When Rejoicing

Spazzing - the hyperactive motion of the body whilst rejoicing, also known as overactive energy

Stupid Choices Made While Rejoicing - Self explanatory.

POV - Point Of View. Also: POV, viewpoint, the point of the viewing

NaNo '08 Progress Rules

WELCOME to another year of NaNoWriMo - National Novel Writing Month!

All right, I don't know about y'all, but I am really looking forward to NaNo '09 - except for the fact that I'm deciding between two plots.
Here's how it works, if you didn't participate in SARImag NaNo last year (meaning everyone besides Brenna and Crandall). Starting on November 1, you will begin your novel and post the updates here, in a like-so fashion, putting your name, PC and WC:

Squid: 11,111 words, 116 pages as of 11/4/09

or:

Squid: 11/4/09 - 11,111 words, 116 pages (or pgs.)

That's all there is to it. Last year Brenna, Crandall, and I chatted on there too, and that's fine as long as we keep it rubbed down to a minimum.

Also, it would be good if you learned the Frequently-Used Terms for Writing, particularly useful during NaNo.

There we go, now you had better get ready for NaNo '09!!

And the members' NOVELS IN PROGRESS are revealed!

Several of the members on SARImag were inspired to begin their own novels, and under this section of the website they will post their updates and get cheered on by the 'cheerleaders' who are keeping them at it!

Also, NaNoWriMo rolls around every November. In 2007, three members were courageous enough to be computer and notepad leeches to brave the month and write 50,000 words by November 30 - but they started TEN days late and still made it! This began the legacy of the NaNo'ers, and this year there will hopefully be several more participants from SARI.

Noey, Brenna, and Squid participated in NaNoWriMo 2007. We had to finish a novel [writing] by the 30th of November. It had to be 50,000 words/175 pages at least.

Here are excerpts from our novels, not very much but just enough to tease you :). Keep in mind, since we were VERY short on time, we had no time to edit and make it perfect, so they will NOT be perfect novel-material. Noey and Squid are in the editing process currently, so our excerpts have changed--quite a bit!!

Beyond the Twilight Mist

Chapter One: Midnight Mischief
In the late night, hooves cannonaded against the gritty sand of the Arabic seashore. She thrust her black head proudly into the fog and deeply breathed in the air which was filled with the peculiar smell of salt water. With a snort she pawed at the ground and swished her white tail. Suddenly she charged into a rhythmical gallop, the wind beating against her glistening chest as she thrust her weight fiercely against it. With glee she pounded the air, flailing her hooves aimlessly into the darkness and whinnying with freedom. Mischief glinted in the horse’s blue eyes as it glanced around at the waves and the sparkling moon.

"Twilight!" came an echoey voice as a loud whisper. "Twilight Mist!"

The horse whipped around on her black heels and bounded toward the faint sound of her owner’s voice. A silhouette of a girl came into her keen eyesight, and instantly she recognized it as Nadira Sana — meaning rare radiance. Black hair flowed from her tan head while her soft brown eyes stared blankly at Twilight Mist.

"How are you, girl?" she grinned, brushing a violet veil from her flawless face. "I’m sorry that I mist come so late in the night, but you know our custom here in Arabia. Females are not permitted to ride or show their faces. How much I would sacrifice to be a horse like you! I would be free to do as I liked . . . to run beside the water or soar over the rock ledges!" she sighed and slumped onto the wet sand.

Twilight lowered her head into the girl’s lap and nudged her downcast face. Nadir Sana caressed the pink muzzle fondly and pressed her lips against the coal-colored nose. Almost immediately, Nadir Sana smiled big and bright exclaiming, "But I do have good news! Well, it’s partly good news. It’s the race! The endurance race! We can enter, I’m of age!"

The girl scrambled hastily to her feet and clutched the long, white mane on Twilight’s slender neck. With impenetrable faith, she hugged the horse and wrenched her fingers into the cool fur. She sniffed in a mammoth breath of the sweet aroma of an equine’s sweet hide and pressed her head closer to the animal’s skin. The breath of Twilight Mist felt warm against her hand.

Nadir Sana snatched her hand away, "But, I’m a girl. That means I cannot enter. But I have a plan, Twilight. A marvelous plan! I shall pretend to be a boy! I know I’m quite small to look like a sixteen year old boy, but that does not matter. Just so long as they don’t suspect us. Think of it! Wandering across the desert, evading every cursed custom, and plunging towards every sign of a rugged adventure!"

The horse nickered while her pointed ears perked to an erect position. She shoved the girl with her head once more, then leaped backwards in innocent playfulness. The girl grabbed a silky handful of mane and swung effortlessly onto the horse’s sleek back. The trousers beneath her dress saved her the hassle of trying to ride sidesaddle bareback. With an encouraging cluck, Twilight jumped into a smooth canter, splashing her hooves in the chilly water beneath her.

Nadira explained to her companion as they glided along, "The race registration ends tomorrow, so I shall reserve our post then. I don’t think we need to bother with training. After all, Manirhi rides you for hours every day. You should be very good at endurance by now, with you being five and all. The challenge is very soon. In fact, it begins in two days. That should be enough time for me to acquire everything we’ll be needing for the trip. I think we can win it!"

The girl eased her bare heels into Twilight’s sensitive flank, and together they progressed into a speeding gallop. Nadira threw back her head and laughed crisply, "If you go half this speed, we can win! I know it!"

Gradually the horse resided to a trot, then a walk. As the tops of buildings came into view, Twilight skidded to an awkward stop. Nadira gracefully slid to the dust and rubbed the horse’s shoulder. She crept into the shadows, glancing around her before taking another tentative step. The horse waited patiently and kept her elegant ears perked straight ahead.

"Go on," the girl demanded as she turned around to face Twilight. "I have to get back to the palace, and you must hurry on back to the stables. I will come for you tomorrow."

Abruptly, a strong, heavy hand grabbed Nadira Sana by her shoulder. The girl winced with recognition that she had been caught. Slowly she turned towards the man who had discovered her sneaking through the night. The man looked at her with stern, but kind eyes and shook his head. He put his other hand heavily on her other shoulder and blinked.
"Nadira," he said in a reproachfully tone, "what are you doing out here at night? And with that horse? You know women aren’t permitted to ride, and being out here in the middle of the night doesn’t make a very good name for yourself."

"I know, Manirhi. But I have to ride her! And since I cannot do it during the day, I must come do it in the night. There is no other way. And I had to tell her about the race," Nadira explained.

"Why did you need to tell Twilight about the race? She isn’t entering as far as I know; no one wants to ride her. You aren’t entering either. You’re a girl. You can’t."

"But maybe I can. I look boyish enough, and I can spread mud over my face," the girl pleaded.

Manirhi stared at her. He looked her over, his eyes moving from her veil which she had pulled back over her face to her bare feet. "Your clothes," he remarked, "won’t fool anyone, I’m sure."

"But that’s where you come in! You work at the stable. Surely you can snag some clothes for me! I can get other things by myself. We’ll need a canteen, camel milk, goat cheese, money, and we’ll also need something to keep us warm at night."

The man shook his head and chuckled, "Oh, you’ll need much more than that. I’m not going to take part in this either. What if someone found out?"

"What if no one found out?" the girl retorted. "Please help us! Just think if we won the race!"

"Just think if you didn’t! If you disappeared . . . ."

"But I won’t! I’m a good enough rider! You should know that by now! I’ve been riding ever since I was three!"

"Yes, but there are many other dangers than falling of your horse! There are raiders and sand pits, not to mention all the wild animals and the dust-storms!" he warned.

"I know I can get through all of that! Please help me!"

"Look, I don’t care what you do, but I am not going to help you this time! It’s too dangerous! The king would kill me if he knew."

"Well fine! Bad night to you! I hope you fall into quicksand!" Nadira yelled and stomped away toward the back window of the palace.

My Hidden Voice (By Brenna)

“Hope your hungry!” Carrie said spooning a generous amount into a dish.
“Oh I am starved!” Mary Ellen said sitting down at the table. She said a prayer and began eating.
Mother came in carrying boxes of candles and matches.
“Whew! I have no idea if we will need or use this many but, better safe then sorry!” she
said as she sat down on a chair.
“Carrie I’ll take some of that rice pudding if you will.”
“Certainly Mother! A lot or just a little?” Carrie asked fishing a bowl from the cupboard.
“A medium serving please!”
After serving mother Carrie stepped up onto a stool and opened the top cupboard.
Carrie slipped off the stool and landed with a groan, on the floor.
“Oh! Carrie! Mother! Oh!” Mary Ellen wailed as she dropped to her sister’s side.
Mother hurried over.
“Oh!” she cried unbuttoning the top button on Carrie’s blouse.
Carrie didn’t move, she lay still, breathing steadily but with her leg was twisted in a most unnormal fashion.
Carrie was unconscious!

Brenna - 10767 Words 23 pgs (ish) as of 11-8-08 .......You are going to do awesome Crandall! Thanksgiving will be hard for me too but oh well....gotta keep going!

Squid - 12,896 words & 35 pages as of 11-8-08. Thanksgiving? Here's my schedule. Write on the way to grandparents' house, eat a bit and visit with family, write more while trying to visit with family, bring booklight to write on the way back in the car. Have an all-nighter.

Squid - 14,199 words and 38 pages as of 11-10-08 at 12:20p. I'll update later today.

Crandall- 3,020 words 12 pages as of 11-10-08. If I write in the car I get carsick and start to feel horrible.

Squid - 15,612 words, 42 pages as of 11-10-08 at 10:15p. Sleep in the car. Your brain needs it. BTW Crandalian, keep the above color for your updates and Brenna, keep your pinkish color. Danke.

Brenna- 13,176 words IDK pages...as of 11-11-08 11:41pm... I am getting FRUSTRATED with this novel!

Crandall-- 4,800 wc 19 pages. I'm at the point Brenna was on the fourth day. ditto Brenna. Everyone wants their novel published. I just got done reading Swordbird, which was written by a 12 year old and published by HARPER COLLINS. How cool is that? She had only known English for 6 years when she wrote it!!!

Brenna - 17,327 words 40something pages... Until Squidnie posts again....I AM AHEAD OF HER!!!! WOOHOO! :P My moment in the spotlight!

Crandall-- 5,302 words 23 pages. Hate to break it to ya darlin', but on Squid's nano site it says 20,000 something words. I don't see how any of y'all do it.

Brenna - 18,375 words IDK pages! ......I had a really tough night last night...Writers block and a heart to heart conversation with a friend.... Maybe I will make it...maybe I won't! KEEP GOING GUYS!

Brenna- 20,051 words and I still don't know how many pages! I need to find that out soon! LoL!

Crandall- 7,015 words 30 pages as of 11/16/08 I actually have never experienced writer's block. lol

Crandall-- 7,727 words 33 pages as of 11-18-08. Thanks Squid! I try to update every night... but If I don't, just assume I'm 2,000 words ahead. I can't wait until double digits!!!!! I was supposed to be there the first week, but I'm still happy. AHH! I just want to finish Nano!!!!!

Ah...so you have seen the recruiting page and decided to take a look at it. Nothing special, right? If your attention isn't grabbed, you'll go to some other page or exit the site and go do something else.

Hopefully your attention WILL be grabbed, however. This is a pretty cool contest. Let's start with the basis.

This contest is to see who can recruit the most new members in one month. Starting April 1, your job is to spread the word to everyone you think would be an active member, loyal to assignments, etc., etc. But the trick is...I'm going to spruce it up and make it even harder.

But of course, sigh, there must be rules and guidelines. YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW THEM. Sorry.
